Art Classes and
Lessons For Grades 1-8

Grades 1-3

With our 1st to 3rd graders, we focus on the fundamentals of drawing and color usage with a variety of materials. Students get hands-on experience with colored pencils, watercolors, and gouache, and are guided to blend arts and crafts into their projects. Even our youngest students start building skills that will follow them throughout their time at Lebeor and through to other artistic pursuits.

Later Elementary &
Middle School

As students reach 4th through 6th grade, we start  to explore new themes and techniques. By this age, some students have already begun to develop a deeper enjoyment of art, and we offer special preparatory classes designed to help them apply to arts-focused middle schools. These classes focus on the specific skills required for success in these competitive admissions processes.

By the time students enter 7th and 8th grade, we introduce acrylics, pastels, pen, and ink. Our goal is to empower them with the freedom to explore various artistic methods. Many students at this stage start getting ready for specialized high school admissions, and to that end, we offer portfolio-building courses and test preparation.

High School Art Classes in Queens

Under the guidance of our experienced teachers, students bring their own approach, creativity, and even material ideas to assigned art projects. Our high school students are still learning and developing their craft, but they also enjoy greater autonomy and individual focus on their art.

Test Preparation for
Middle & High School

Our test prep program is all about helping students get ready for acceptance into art-focused middle and high schools. We cover everything they’ll need to know for these exams, from still life drawing to composition and essay writing. We offer specialized classes, which will help your child be accepted into schools like Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art, Murrow High School of Art and Design, and Frank Sinatra High School. You can see our list of acceptances over the years here.

A Track Record of Success

We have many students at Lebeor who simply want to learn about art, make friends, and find a creative outlet that will be with them for the rest of their lives.

We also have many motivated young artists who want to attend art-focused high schools, gain admission into a competitive university art program, or even pursue art professionally. Our students are often accepted into Art & Design, Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School, Murrow, Mark Twain Middle School, and even post-secondary institutions like Parson School of Design, Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), School of Visual Arts (SVA), and PRATT Institute.
